2. Safeguarding at Fordingbridge RFC

Fordingbridge RFC acknowledges its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of children involved in rugby at our Club and confirms that it will adhere to the RFU Safeguarding Policies and procedures, recommended practices and guidelines.

The Rugby Football Union (RFU) is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children in the sport. All children are entitled to protection from harm and have the right to take part in sport in a safe, positive and enjoyable environment.
The Club’s Policy is informed by the RFU’s own Safeguarding Policy details of which can be found on the RFU website at:
RFU Safeguarding Policy

and the RFU’s Regulation 21 which gives guidance on the interpretation and management of the Policy, details of which can be found on the RFU website at: RFU Safeguarding Reg 21

The Club will also work closely with the Safeguarding Manager of its Constituent Body, Hampshire RFU. The contact details of the Hampshire RFU Safeguarding Manager and their responsibilities can be found at: HRFU Safeguarding Manager
Under Child Protection laws and RFU policy, a "child" is anyone under the age of 18 engaged in any rugby union activity.
The Key Principles of the RFU Safeguarding Policy are that:
• The welfare of the child is, and must always be, paramount to any other considerations
• All participants regardless of age, gender, ability or disability, race, faith, size, language or sexual identity have the right to protection from abuse or harm and should be able to enjoy their rugby in a positive, safe and enjoyable environment
• All allegations or suspicions of abuse, neglect, harm, discrimination and poor practice will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly, fairly and appropriately
• Everyone involved in the sport will work in partnership to promote the welfare, health and development of children
