The third match of the season started the best way so far, only a little caution displayed by the Fordingbridge ladies but the ladies kept the heads up and there was no early try!
During an early ruck, an injury was sustained by a Devizes player, and play stopped until the ambulance arrived. This also took one of the Fordingbridge ladies with suspected rib injury.
Post match, both players were confirmed as badly bruised but not broken fortunately.
The defensive line was in the main well executed, but there was a break away try by the Devizes 9 which was not converted.
Not to be out done, the Fordingbridge ladies maintained their play and Hannah Walraven punched through the Devizes defensive line and scored a deserved try. Hannah then converted to bring the Fordingbridge ladies into the lead.
Play continued and saw some good rugby played. The scrums worked well, and the line outs needed some more work!
Andrea Garcia then made it over to score a second try for the Fordingbridge ladies.
Following the half time break, off the back of a scrum Hannah Walraven again broke through and scored another try.
Woman of the match went to Emma Harris for excellent consistent support work throughout the match. Excellent play by Hazel Manrique & Emily Sutcliffe, two of the newest Fordingbridge players on the pitch also.
The match was an excellent first win for the ladies against Devizes who won last season 50-nil.
Final score was 17-5.
