This was the second match of the season for the u15s and, with only 13 players available and only two front rows, was always going to be a tough day at the office against a large Tottonian squad of 25.
Fordingbridge having borrowed two forwards, the first period started with early Totts pressure but the first score came from the home team as Bird Root burst down the wing to claim his second try of the season. Thereafter, Totts built up the pressure and scored two tries to make the score 5 - 12 at the end of the first period, (of three).
Totts showed great possession skills, keeping the ball alive at every opportunity, and as the game wore on and Fordingbridge began to tire, their ability to rotate and rest players also began to tell. For the last two periods, 'Bridge were joined by the u14 No. 10 who slotted in nicely to the back line and showed great kicking skills.
'Bridge kept up the fight and with tenacity and determination stopped a number of Totts try scoring opportunities but they were always struggling against strong running from the Totts bigger and fresher players. Nevertheless, the last score went to Fordingbridge, courtesy of strong running from Bird Root to score the try out wide and an excellent kick from Tom Goodwin with the last kick of the game.
Man of the match was Jacob Chalk.
