We started brightly and a flowing three quarter move saw centre Mat Norton go over in the right corner. Fly half, and new father, Jamie Tryska kicked a fine conversion. Congratulations to Jamie and Kirsty.
Millbrook responded immediately kicking a penalty. Jamie was having a fine day with the boot and he kept the score board ticking over with a drop goal and another penalty to see us 13 – 3 ahead half way through the first half.
To this point the match had been an open affair with both sides running the ball well despite the incessant rain. The final twenty minutes of the half saw more handling errors and this inevitably led to a more stop start game with neither side able to establish a rhythm.
The only points of this period came three minutes from the break with another Jamie penalty.
We started the second half as we did the first with an early converted try. Right wing Josh Merry popping up on the left in the outside centre channel to score.
The match remained an even affair with fine tackling by both sides nullifying attacking opportunities. Our efforts in this regard being led by the back row of Man of the Match Tim Beer, Ross Bealey and Mark Hammond.
Full back Peter Scott went over in the sixty first minute with his effort converted by Mat to complete our scoring.
Millbrook finished strongly with a converted try eleven minutes from time to leave the full time score 30 – 10.
Next week we travel to face fellow unbeaten side Basingstoke in the Hampshire Premiership.
