Fordingbridge under 15s started their league season in sparkling form with a hard fought win away to Romsey.

The Fordingbridge boys immediately pressured their hosts from the kick off and flanker Ben Kirby got the scoring off to a start with a try after a typically strong run. The hosts retaliated with a converted try but the visitors replied with a penalty from fly-half Lewis Dennett and probably the try of the day which saw Sam Joy go over following several quick off-loads and the ball spun wide from a quick ruck.

The second half saw Fordingbridge valiantly trying to play some fluent rugby including a classic winger’s try from Jamie Ashcroft who skilfully beat two defenders to dot down following an enterprising run out of their own 22 by the threequarters. Flanker Pat Badger put the seal on the victory with a short range try nearer to time. Dennett’s conversion took the score to a well deserved 12-27 margin.
