Well, what a great sight, watching the under 12's with more players than ever, we even had to lend players to the opposition! After a season of constantly borrowing players we are now in a great position. Playing this week on a "full size" pitch and keeping Jack happy with being allowed to kick conversions this was a great taste of what's to come.
Josh proudly stepped up to play for Romsey, and the game commenced. A run down the left wing followed by a pass by Harry set up Ted to go over, great work. Romsey countered and their passing released Josh for a lovely run and score, at least it was a 'bridge player scoring!
The game continued with some cracking team work and a few notable points and players were as follows:
Players were making runs and when tackled setting the ball back and we recycled it very well in no small part to Gregs superb support at the ruck by stepping over the player and keeping the opposition at bay. The recycled ball was passed to hand accurately and support was there for whoever was running on, Both Adam and Ben had several runs to gain much territory and Tommy was his usual fired up and hard running self. With Tommy on the other side for the second half we had Josh back and he ran in another try this time for us. Jack did some very good kicking to accumulate more points. It wasn't all attack, Romsey had some solid breaks and our tackling was tested, we defended well and (I know I'm biased) loved Jaspers tackle which carried a player 3 yards sideways into touch. Justin also got into the thick of the tackles and took a knock for his efforts, once the blood had cleard from his mouth he was straight back in, welcome back Justin. Also welcome back to Ned good to see you out there again. With so many new players to the squad, (welcome Ben, Jacob, Marcus, Ted, plus those that couldn't make today) I think we could be in for a great season. Thanks to John and Iain for coaching. Heres to 2012-2013.
