Fordingbridge Ladies Vs. Guernsey Ladies (Home)

The last game of the season had a whole host of ups and downs and the weather managed to hold off as well which was a bonus. Fordingbridge brought a mixed side with Tottonians, Basingstoke, Oakmedians and even Army players, so there were some changes to positions but Fordingbridge overcame this and worked solidly as a team against a very strong Guernsey. Fordingbridge started off strong with lots of great tackles but unfortunately left a gap which Guernsey took advantage of and they scored the first try. Fordingbridge then woke up and scored a try just before half time, this was scored and converted by Claire Dorey. To start the second half Fordingbridge came out with all guns blazing and scored two tries within the first 15 minutes. Hazel Manrique and Sarah Gorman being the two try scorers both with runaway tries. One of the tries was converted by Claire Dorey. Unfortunalety due to lots of pushing by Guernsey they managed to break through Fordingbridge’s defence and score. Hazel Manrique won back of the match for her blinding try she made running down the wing and Angela Mouland won Forward of the match for her great support and tackles. This season has been a great triumph for Fordingbridge we have had several new players that had never even played rugby before and they have just taken to the game amazingly. All spectators seemed to enjoy the match and lets hope next season is even better. Final score 19-39.
