The first match for the girls in 2012 was a very energetic and fast paced game. Fordingbridge brought a mixed side with Tottonians, Trojons and Oakmedians players, so there were some changes to positions but Fordingbridge overcame this and worked solidly as a team against a very strong Southampton. The first try for Fordingbridge was a great effort from the forwards who went through the phases and were rewarded in the end. The opposition started with a score on the board but Fordingbridge quickly retaliated with a try scored by Hannah Walraven. This carried on after Southampton scored their next try, Fordingbridge replied with another try scored by Sarah Gorman. For the majority of the game Fordingbridge had possession and territory and were close to scoring many times but unfortunately these chances did not come with rewards and Southampton broke through and scored another two tries in the second half. Carla Lee played a brand new position as scrum half and played a blinding match, she won forward of the match. Emma Batty won tit of the day for falling over her feet 2 metres from the try line and Sarah Gorman was back of the match for securing some great runs and tackles as wing. Overall a very good match played by both sides with some huge improvements from Fordingbridge. Spectators were very much treated to an exciting game of rugby. Final score was 10 – 24.
