After an early start and a short warm up time, 'Bridge took to the field against Vectis for their first match against each other in many a year. With both teams unable to field a full team, Flankers were dropped and the match proceeded with 13 a-side.
Vectis were the first to get going and using the slope of the pitch to full effect, drove over for a try with 'Bridge still wondering what day it was. The lead didn't last long however with 'Bridge getting off the mark shortly after with a try from Timmy Evans and a conversion from Tom Goodwin. Vectis hit back with a tremendous solo effort from their no.17 but it wasn't long before 'Bridge nudged ahead again with their second try courtesy of Bird Root. The rest of the half was nip and tuck with neither side able to string together much possession and it ended with 'Bridge just ahead at 10 - 12.
With the slope in their favour in the second half, 'Bridge seized the advantage and ran in a further 5 tries with Evans and Root each scoring a second and Ben Galdeano, Jack Griffiths and Jacob Chalk all getting their names on the score sheet. Dickon Westlake may well have joined them for his first try in many years but fate was not on his side as he was taken out off the ball when certain to touch down a loose ball and he then turned into trouble close to the try line when the easy route would have been towards the corner flag. Tom Goodwin added two further conversions. Man of the Match was George O'Reilly.
