U14s lose to Overton

After last weeks excellent team performance Fordingbridge looked tired against Overton u14s this Sunday. This game was always going to be a tough challenge and Fordingbridge seemed up for it starting brightly with some strong runs into the Overton half. However, it was Overton who got the early try getting the ball out to their pacey Winger who out sprinted the ‘Bridge defence to score under the posts and allow a straightforward conversion. Overton followed this up with more pressure on the ‘Bridge try line, however this time the defence held strong and play moved back up the pitch into the Overton half. Fordingbridge were now looking the more likely to score and Ben Galdeano was stopped inches short of the try line when he looked almost certain to go over. An injury to Dominic Bowden-Smith just before half time then made the game 14 a-side and when the whistle blew for the break the score stood at 0 – 7.

The second half found Fordingbridge tiring and Overton managed to break the defensive line twice more for straightforward tries. A further injury to Dickon Westlake brought ‘Bridge down to 13 although the match remained 14 a-side with ‘Bridge borrowing an Overton sub. A further breakaway try gave Overton another touch down under the posts and a deserved victory but at 0 – 28 perhaps not a fair refection on the balance of play.
