Late withdrawals and unavailability doesn't stop the Second Team Juggernaut.

Again a brisk afternoon welcomed visitors Bournemouth to the Fordingbridge recreation ground, where Fordingbridge continued their march up the table.

Positional changes a plenty, Matt Maynard starting at scrum half for the first time in his senior career showed everybody what a bright talent he is, by continuing 'bridges trademark early try scoring feat, by crossing wide out after 3 minutes. With regular goal kicker Dean Lewis unavailable, the kicking duties were handed to Josh 'Toblerone' Goodchild, who in fairness had a day to forget with the boot.

With a crowd assembling on the touchline, thinking that Wales' thumping of Italy, would make the six nations an anti climax, they decided to come and watch a rejuvenated second team, who have strung some impressive performances together recently and unfortunately for Bournemouth, 'bridge were in a ruthless mood, dominating the scrum, even with Alex Tattersall stepping up to prop for the first time since Under 8's!!

With the young guns from the previous weekend unavailable due to Colts duties, it was left to the veterans to show their piers the way forward. Rob Hay making an appearance after a long run of unavailability, due to a sore pinky was next to score finishing a team effort.

In a fixture which was played in great spirit, Bournemouth contributed fully despite being under the cosh for long periods, but bridge's impressive defence led by Tim Beer, this week playing at centre, kept them at bay and for the second time in three weeks Fordingbridge kept their opponents from crossing their line.

With 42 players otherwise engaged through injury or shopping it was left to Harry Hitchings with his twinkling toes to fill in at centre, and for what he lacked in pace, the power shone through, and he scored a try in a position that even Toblerone couldn't miss. Bridge seemingly cruising.

Next on the score sheet was Chris 'The Dark Destroyer' let loose in the back row, he relished the fast track, out pacing the defence to score another unconverted try.

Half Time 27 - 0

What is prevalent throughout the second team currently, is that whoever is selected to play (or available), is that players are playing with a smile on their on face, this doesn't show disrespect, this shows that fundamentally we are a great club, with great leadership, quality coaching and a willingness to succeed. The core of players have been together for many years, and with the supporting cast flitting in and out each week they continue to push for their highest position for many years.

With a nasty injury to a Bournemouth player it would have been easy for them to throw the towel in being 27 - 0 down, but as both teams agreed they were here to play rugby and a quick pitch swap ensued, with the comradely which only rugby can provide, with players from both sides grabbing a post protector or pitch marker to swap the game onto the old recreation ground pitch.

It took a while to gain the upper hand, but the platform provided by the tight 5, resulted in front foot ball which veteran 10 Tim Brittan exploited scoring an individual try.

Quickly following Brittan was his half back partner Matt Maynard, who brought a protein shake into the changing room after the game, which broke second team protocol as we only drink San Miguel as our source of protein after our physical exertions!

A certain Welsh contingents hearts broken by the Irish's demolition of Scotland, could only be raised knowing that England had to do the unthinkable and smash the French ......... Surely not??

With four games of rugby played in the manner which made us all take up the sport, there is only one question. This quote unfortunately comes from a devote football fanatic ......... Delia Smith "Where are YOU???"

Massive game against Poole this week at FORDINGBRIDGE!! Get your availability in early!!!

****Toblerone relates to something Rob Hay quoted "He must have a Toblerone in his boots, this could go anywhere!!"****
