We travelled to Swanage & Wareham with just 15 players including some new faces and gained a bonus point with a 19 – 41 victory.

Match report by Dave Donaldson

Captained by Dave Timms we had to dig deep against a feisty home side. From the kick off we defended strongly and a strong covering tackle from debutant scrum half Dan Barrett forced a knock on to keep the home side out.
After 10 mins a long kick from Tom Madgwick was collected by Pat Badger who went over for the opening try, converted by Dean Lewis 0-7.
We started to take control and on 17 mins another debut boy Tom Madgwick ran a great line to score his first senior try. Converted by Dean Lewis 0-14
We were down to 14 men as Dan Barrett was forced to retire from the game injured. However the pressure continued and forced errors on the home side and Dean Lewis converted a penalty 0-17.
After 27 mins we were camped inside the Swanage 22 and eventually the home side saw yellow, 14 a side for 10 mins.
With 5 mins of the half remaining a strong driving maul from the forwards saw Dave Timms break through to score the third try 0-22
For the last play of the half Swanage and Wareham opened their account with a breakaway converted try.
Half time 7-22
The second half started with us being awarded 5 penalties in 10 mins.
It was 22 mins in to the second half before Pat Badger manage to break through to score his second try of the afternoon and secure a bonus point 7- 27
From the restart Ryan Hill caught the ball on our 22 and ran the length of the field to extend the lead.
Converted by Tom Madgwick 7-34.
The restart was knocked on by us giving the home side territorial advantage but we were awarded a penalty from the scrum. Cleared into the home sides 22 with a superb kick from Tom Madgwick.
The line was won well and the forwards set a platform for the ball to be shipped by the backs with some superb handling and Pat Badger completed his hat trick with the try of the day . Converted by Tom Madgwick 7-41 on 67 mins.
With 10 mins remaining the home side kept the ball in the forwards and they powered over 12-41.
Unsurprisingly we were tiring and the fresh legs on for the home side kept the pressure on. With the final play of the game the home side scored their third try, converted 19-41.
Tom Madgwick was awarded man of the match for a faultless display. Dave Timms (DOD) for proving why forwards shouldn't kick the ball!
An all round awesome effort from all on the field takes leaves us 4th on 9 points.
Next week we travel to New Milton looking to continue our excellent form
