The previous Saturday the E’s had also beaten Fordingbridge by a two-point margin 17-15 – a double that cements Ellingham’s second place in the League.
However last Saturday it was Fordingbridge who had made the early running with two penalties by Mark Hammond and drop goal by Mike Parke to go nine points up. The E’s hit back with a try by Dean Younger and a penalty by Andy Weeks but ‘Bridge still led 9-8 at half-time. The decisive moment came 15 minutes from time when Weeks kicked his second penalty to give the visitors a hard-fought win.
