After Mark Hammond had kicked an early penalty, Tom Ronaboldo put Salisbury ahead 5-3 with a try following a drive down the left wing. Hammond then hit the left upright with a second penalty attempt, but Dave Morrell with a penalty and Mark Ward, scoring a try, put the visitors 13-3 up. However Hammond was successful with his next penalty and he also converted a try, touched down by Luke Mowbray, after concerted forward pressure to level the score at 13-all.
That was to be the last Fordingbridge score, although the side continued to show much promise. Ward gave Salisbury a slender lead at half-time but both sides forfeited chances to score in the second half before a dropped goal by Fitzpatrick and a superb try by Tom Clarke put the issue beyond doubt.
