A personal tale of New Milton RFC vs Fordingbridge Rugby Club Saturday 20th October 2018

Yesterday I had one of my favourite Rugby days! And I have had a few. As it was such a gorgeous day Julia and I decided to make a day of it and had a bite to eat at Lymington, where we bumped into Nigel Lunt wth Pam & Timi! Followed by an ice cream at Milford on Sea. We arrived at New Milton Rugby Club about ten minutes before Kick Off. The pitch looked in great condition and it is nice and wide which will suit our boys. Angela video phoned me from Thailand to watch the start of the match! There is dedication! The first half New Milton kept it in the forwards and we had trouble getting the ball. However got it twice and scored twice. Firstly thanks to a strong break from Mark Hammond! They finished 13 all at half time. Great defence lads. The second half was all Fordingbridge fast running and smart passing. A great team display. All the travelling support had a great afternoon finishing off in the Clubhouse. Their Bitter was Witches something or other which was worth a second tester. The boys convinced us to pop back in the Crown for a quick one on the way home. Thanks Harry. I would thoroughly recommend travelling with Fordingbridge Rugby Club to their away matches. We have an away on the Isle of Wight in November. Get it in your diary. (Although we do have to behave on the coach these days. Songs such as Wild Rover and Sloop John Bee in preference to the usual is now be called for). The rugby is excellent and the camraderie is fabulous! Thank you one and all it was a real pleasure!l
